Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila has bagged himself a pretty decent gig as the new manager of MLS side New York City.

The news, that we had suspected for a few days, was confirmed on Monday as the American outfit named the Norwegian as their next boss. Deila had been in his homeland with Valarenga since early 2017 but now signs for the MLS side on a three-year contract.

Given that our former boss is still so widely liked around the club, it was no surprise to see Celtic tweet him a message shortly after the news broke saying: “Best of luck, Ronny”.

And many of the Hoops faithful were keen to pass on their wishes just below as they replied with various messages of support for Deila.

Here are some of the ones we came across.

Some other supporters were keen to spot an opportunity for next summer. A trip to New York would be nice eh?

And one supporter alluded to the fact that Deila would be joining up with a member of his former Celtic side. Gary Mackay-Steven is also out in the States after leaving Aberdeen last summer.

Deila will always be welcome at Celtic Park, unlike some

It’s remarkable how Deila is remembered so well at the club despite never really reaching his true potential as boss. He won a fraction of the trophies Brendan Rodgers did yet he’s remembered much better than the Northern Irishman – mainly due to the way he handled himself.

Deila has passion, but he also respected the position he was in at all times. Unlike the Leicester City boss.

We wish him all the best in his move over to the MLS. We know who we’ll be supporting in America this season anyway. And hopefully we’ll see him back at Celtic Park very soon for the ten-in-a-row party.
