Some Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to ridicule Craig Beattie and Sky Sports for an interview on the Hoops’ title chances earlier today.

Neil Lennon’s team have shown excellent consistency in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Beattie though has rather bizarrely questioned if the eight-in-a-row champions have the bottle to see the job through next May.

The former Celtic player was asked his opinion on what is increasingly looking like a long and drawn-out race for the Scottish Premiership crown.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I discussed this yesterday with a very well-known journalist, who said ‘It will be interesting to see if Rangers have got the bottle with three or four games to go… if they’re in contention, will they have the bottle to stand up to potentially winning the league?”

“I flipped the question on him and said ‘How do we know that Celtic have got the bottle?’, because, with three or four games to go, nobody has been challenging them of late.”

As 67HH writer David Walton pointed out this evening, Beattie’s comments are misguided at best and insulting at worst. Has he not been watching football in Scotland for the eight years?

Celtic have batted away every challenge that’s come their way. Winning thirty cup games on the bounce is not the mark of a side who lack bottle.

They are ridiculous comments and some supporters did not waste much time in telling Beattie and Sky Sports just what they thought of the interview.

These fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
