Mohamed Elyounoussi’s goal today marked his fourth for the club as Celtic routed Aberdeen 4-0 at Pittodrie.
The Norwegian has slowly been growing into his jersey at Parkhead. Supporters have been delighted with what they’ve seen of him so far. With Mikey Johnston sidelined, Elyounoussi has been taking away the pain of that knock with some fine displays.

And he continued his fine form today. As well as showing some terrific movement and combination play, he managed to notch our final goal of the afternoon. It was a terrific take as well, adding to his goals against Cluj and Ross County respectively.
His goal also attracted the right kind of attention from the Celtic fans too. Looking at the fan reaction to his display on Twitter, here’s what some in our support had to say on him:

Elyounoussi showing exactly why he was signed
An imperious display today from Elyounoussi. It’s no wonder supporters have been taken so much by him and his performances this season.
He made only 19 appearances for Southampton last season, but it’s bewildering as to why he didn’t make more. If there are better left-wingers ahead of him in the pecking order, they must have disappeared this season.

As for the Norwegian, he’s shown exactly why he’s been signed by the club. Nobody could’ve foreseen Johnston’s injury knock. But Elyounoussi’s performances have lessened how much we miss Mikey.
It’s going to be an incredible battle for the left-wing spot when Johnston returns to action. He has such quick feet that aren’t matched by any other player we have for the position. But Elyounoussi beats Mikey on his off-ball movement that often gets him into some terrific positions.

Considering Scott Sinclair and Lewis Morgan have struggled to make an impression this season, Mo’s signing has therefore been instrumental to our early-season success.
Whether he starts on Wednesday or not remains to be seen. But if he’s ready to go, Neil Lennon should let him rip in an attempt to find his fifth goal for the club.
