Some Celtic fans take aim at Rangers' Connor Goldson

Some Celtic fans have had a pop at forgetful Rangers defender Connor Goldson over the last day.

The Ibrox man, who consistently seems to be terrorised by Odsonne Edouard against Celtic, claimed that his team have never been outplayed by the Bhoys since he arrived (Scottish Sun).

Goldson made the claim despite the fact he’s won only two of seven Glasgow derbies he’s competed in. One of them came after Celtic had already won the league title last season too.

Celtic fans were quick to remind Goldson of how he often fares against us, and took to Twitter to aim their digs at him. Here’s a look at some of the reaction:

Goldson has a short memory

It’s fair to say that Goldson must not remember much from these games, because his side were totally outplayed in his very first one. Celtic beat Rangers 1-0 back in September 2018, controlling 57% of the possession. We also had 16 shots with nine on target compared to Rangers’ six and two respectively (BBC).

We’re open and honest enough to admit that we didn’t manage to reach our standards at Ibrox last season. However, we also bossed the first hour against Rangers at Parkhead when we beat them 2-1 back in March.

Goldson also seems to forget the controlled 2-0 win at Ibrox back in September too. No doubt he probably thinks Rangers have bossed us on several occasions. He comes across as that delusional a player.

Goldson is trying to paint a picture of both teams being neck-and-neck, but Rangers having the advantage if they turn up. That couldn’t be further from the truth, however. Whenever Celtic perform to their capabilities, they continue to have too much for Rangers’ serial losers.

It’s also ironic that we’re talking about a player who seldom has a good game in this fixture. Goldson has already given away two goals against us this season. It’s a surprise to see him try and come out and play the big man in the build-up. Then again, maybe we shouldn’t be.

In any case, here’s hoping we provide his team a beating today that he remembers for a while. Or at least until the next one comes around when he’ll forget about it again.
