Some Celtic supporters believe that any debate regarding who the best striker in Scottish football is, was resoundingly put to bed on Sunday.

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has been on a tear this season, at home and abroad, scoring 25 goals in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

In such good form, it could have been expected he might finally end his derby drought against the Bhoys at the weekend.

Pundit Alex Rae suggested to The Daily Record last week that the Colombian is the best player in the country, ahead of Celtic favourite Odsonne Edouard.

The Frenchman wasn’t fit enough to start yesterday’s match but when he was introduced into the game by Neil Lennon, changed it massively.

Morelos meanwhile missed chance after chance, including a golden opportunity from the penalty spot. Fraser Forster proved to be his nemesis.

It was a terrible showing for the 23-year-old, who looked dejected in the Hampden rain after failing to inspire his side to victory.

Edouard has shown just how crucial he is to Celtic’s overall game and although he’s not quite hit the scoring heights of Morelos this term, it’s clear he is a player born for the big occasion.

With 13 goals and 12 assists, he’s hardly been a slouch when it comes to direct goal contributions (Transfermarkt).

For me, it’s pretty clear who the best forward in the country is right now.

These fans think the matter has now been put to rest too, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts in the wake of yesterday’s win…
