Some Celtic fans were very impressed with Tom Rogic cameo vs Milan

Celtic’s match against Milan on Thursday night looked to be very dispiriting for viewers watching at home as the Hoops struggled badly in the first-half, trailing 2-0.

However, despite a 3-1 defeat in the Europa League group stage opener, Neil Lennon’s side performed much better in the second-half of the game. Probably the main reason for that was the change in formation the Hoops manager made. He moved Celtic to four at the back, and made some much-needed substitutions.

The likes of Mo Elyounoussi and Ryan Christie made a difference – indeed, it was Elyounoussi who scored Celtic’s goal. However, probably the best performance of the second-half came from Tom Rogic.

Talent was at his mercurial best

Rogic came on in the 64th minute, in place of Scott Brown, and was at his mercurial best. He was at the heart of everything good about Celtic’s second-half display, as he prompted the Hoops going forward and was able to help the Hoops gain a foothold in the match, they previously did not have.

Rogic showed just how good that both he and Celtic can be when they get going. If the midfielder had started the game, then perhaps the Hoops would have been far more competitive in the game.

Rogic’s excellent display didn’t go unnoticed by some Celtic fans on social media. One fan suggested that Celtic should build the team around the midfielder. Another went as far as to call him Celtic’s best player.

Proved just how good a player he can be

That might be going too far, especially when you consider that Odsonne Edouard is still in the squad. However, Rogic has proven over the years just how good a player he can be for Celtic.

It will be interesting to see if he features for the Hoops on a more regular basis going forward. It seems that some Celtic fans hope that will be the case.

Here are some of the best reactions to Rogic’s performance against Milan from Twitter:
