Some fans have their say on Nir Bitton's Celtic display vs St Johnstone

Celtic have won 1-0 away to St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup on Sunday, securing progression into the semi-finals of the competition.

It was a scrappy, draining encounter in Perth against Tommy Wright’s side.

The conditions turned the McDiarmid Park pitch, that we usually have a lot of joy on, into something of a mud field.

That proved to be a leveller and although Celtic turned the pressure up in the second half, at one point it looked like the game was heading towards a replay.

It was Christopher Jullien, again showing why he should be considered a Celtic talisman, who helped Ryan Christie’s wonderful free-kick into the back of the net. Although, there may be plenty of looks at that on replays to figure out just whose goal it was.

Another who didn’t let himself down in the hard-earned win was Israeli international Nir Bitton, coming into the defensive line in place of the injured Jozo Simunovic.

He was composed on and off the ball for the majority of the match, helping at least keep a clean sheet against the home side.

Neil Lennon signed the player during his first spell as manager at the club and seems to always trust his player to do a job even in difficult circumstances or outside of his natural midfield position.

He earned that trust today.

There’s a good chance he now retains his place in the Celtic lineup over the coming weeks.

These fans were delighted with his performance in the win, taking to Twitter this afternoon to share their thoughts…
