Some Celtic supporters have been impressed by recent performances from Nir Bitton and want him to stay in Neil Lennon’s first-team ahead of Jozo Simunovic.
Simunovic is suffering from an ongoing knee issue, forced out of games against St Johnstone and Livingston in the Scottish Premiership this week.
That followed an error in last week’s Europa League tie against Copenhagen that helped contribute towards our exit.
Bitton is naturally a midfielder but over the last couple of seasons has played far more in defence than in the middle of the park.
His displays against St Johnstone and Livi have been encouraging, looking calm and composed both on and off the ball.
The technical ability he has can also prove to be crucial in the transition from defence to attack, either by carrying the ball himself or passing accurately forward to teammates.
With Neil Lennon now so often playing a back three in his defensive line, it leaves room for a defender to play regularly alongside Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien.
Now some fans believe Bitton can be that man on a regular basis between now and the end of the season.

There’s not much trust left in Simunovic’s ability to stay fit or play consistently and the Israeli international could be our best option, despite young talents like Stephen Welsh coming through the academy.
Some supporters have taken to Twitter today to give their thoughts on the issue after 67 Hail Hail posted a video to YouTube discussing it all (like and subscribe!)…
