Celtic’s European exit will give the chance for Odsonne Edouard to prove his worth to Celtic.

Purchased in the summer for a staggering £9 million, there will be fans expecting more from the Frenchman.

However, with very few appearances and goals in Europe this season, is he flattering to deceive?

Edouard should be given chance up front

With the league and cup race closing in, now is the best chance to give the 21-year-old his starting spot.

Since his January loan, Brendan Rodgers is opting with Oliver Burke as a number nine.

This is restricting Edouard’s chances since returning from an injury at the turn of the year.

He has 14 goals in 38 appearances this season which isn’t too bad but can be better.

However, he has failed to score since his boxing day showing against Aberdeen in which he saved the match.

A striker in Europe for Celtic can be a lonely place as a lot is asked of you but this is where you earn your character.

The French youth international has only managed one goal in the Europa League but three in Champions League qualifying.

Striker should stake claim ahead of loanees

With Burke only at Parkhead until the end of the season, his time at Celtic is coming to an end.

The pricey summer buy should be looking to nip in front of the loanee to set the Bhoys up for Champions League qualifying next season.

The strike force will need quite the overhaul in the summer with Burke and Timothy Weah leaving.

Edouard must show Rodgers that he is indeed the man to lead the line for the Hoops.

A faultless run until the end of the season as Celtic’s number one striker will do that but he has work to do.

The manager appears to like Burke’s energy for the beginning of games, as well as pressing and tireless attitude to win the ball back.

Edouard isn’t that type of player but he must show the manager what different capabilities he can bring of equal measure.
