A brilliant moment picked up by the SPFL cameras from a Motherwell fan has been put on social media today.
Celtic ended up routing the Steelmen 5-2 at Fir Park on Saturday. It was a terrific result for the Hoops as they followed up their opening-day 7-0 win against St Johnstone with another rout.

It was certainly a day of joy for the Hoops fans, but certainly not for one Motherwell fan in particular. As Kristoffer Ajer was just about to be played through by James Forrest for the equaliser, a Motherwell fan can be heard claiming Forrest was “in the back pocket”. Moments later, almost as if it was set up for a comedy sketch, you can hear the stunned fan give it “Aw nawwww” as Ajer breaks through to score.
Have a look at the video below, which has gone viral amongst the Hoops support today.
“Up there with what’s the goalie doing”
As expected, things didn’t get much better for the depleted Motherwell fan. The Hoops would go on to go score four more and give his team an almighty battering at their own venue.
But the video has been well-received by Celtic supporters on social media. Reacting to the video, here’s a few comments from some of the Hoops faithful.

Okay so perhaps it’s not quite up there with Hugh Burns’ classic line of “WIT’S THE GOALIE DAEN TOM?!” But it’s certainly right up there.
You would think Scottish football supporters would stop setting themselves up for this kind of fall when they play Celtic. Unfortunately, they’ll never learn. Beating us leads to an over-excitement for many others. You can understand the heartbreak when we peg them back.

As for the goal itself, there was a beautiful element of simplicity about it. A pass to Forrest, a couple of touches inside, a through ball to the overlapping runner, and then the finish. It was a thing of real beauty, and it came at such a key time too.
Who knows how the contest at Fir Park would’ve gone had Motherwell held on for a few more minutes? Fortunately, that’s the game-changing talent Celtic have at their disposal, and it’s what separates us from the rest.
And it’s that kind of talent that continues to show up Burns and Co in these kinds of videos.
