The SPFL cancelled a scheduled board meeting today, with it now being due to take place tomorrow morning, The Scotsman report.

Nine board members had been set to take part in a conference call to help determine a way forward for Celtic and the rest of the Scottish clubs caught up in the ongoing public health crisis.

However, a league spokesperson has insisted there is nothing untoward with the meeting postponement, telling The Scotsman: “There is nothing sinister. It just made more sense to have it on the same day as the other meetings.”

Staggered meetings for each of the four leagues that make up the SPFL will take place tomrrow following the much-anticipated board meeting, with everyone perhaps hoping for a bit of clarity about what may happen in the coming weeks and months.

The Scottish Sun has previously reported that Wednesday is a critical day, with the league hoping to take proposals to the clubs and lead the discussions, that could see a variety of different options tables such as league reconstruction or calling time on the 2019/20 campaign.

A Hampden source told the paper on Monday night: “The next two days should tell us a lot more about the direction we’ll be heading in. Nothing is certain as things stand and it’s impossible to predict how things will go.

“People tend to keep their cards close to their chest at times like these. The board will discuss the whole situation and it’s likely they’ll look to lead the debate on Wednesday and make its recommendations.

“We’ll then discover if there is any consensus behind one particular future model or not and, if so, what that is.”

It’s reported that a club vote on any proposals could even take place this week.

With Fifa and UEFA offering flexibility and time to finish the league season with a multitude of guarantees around contracts and transfer windows, a decision could even be reached to try and resume the action this summer and determine final placings on the pitch.

However it all shakes out, tomorrow could well be a defining one of the current crisis when it comes to Scottish football.
