SPFL share amazing Kieran Tierney Celtic throwback
Celtic sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal nearly 2 years ago.
Isn’t it bizarre how quickly the time goes? Admittedly, while the 20-21 season dragged on amongst the doom and gloom, it still feels, generally, like it’s been no time at all since KT was a Celtic player.
At the risk of getting Miss Havisham about it, and long for players who’ve since left us, it’s sometimes incredibly difficult. Especially when the SPFL share a highlight so class that there’s a song about it [Damien Quinn/YouTube].
Remember when he captained Glasgow Celtic and he scored a wonderful goal? Well, the SPFL do, and they decided to make Celtic supporters feel mournful for what once was.
🏴 One of those ones that stayed hit.

It’s the kind of goal that causes goosebumps, even now. Granted, it wasn’t the biggest occasion; a midweek tie in the Betfred Cup [FourFourTwo]. Still, Tierney was just 20, and when he captained Celtic, he launched an absolute rocket past the despairing Killie keeper.
“One of those that stayed hit”, say the SPFL, and it’s true. It’s a goal you demands repeated viewings, unless you find left-backs scoring from 40 yards out to be run of the mill.
Celtic supporters can’t be blamed for enjoying Kieran Tierney nostalgia
The ascent of Kieran Tierney seemed too good to be true. After replacing his hero Emilio Izaguirre in a nothing game against Dundee, KT never looked back. Though he missed significant time on the pitch due to a number of injuries, Tierney could generally be relied upon to set the tone for Celtic.
From left-back, no less.
And now it’s Arsenal supporters who get to see the best of him. Against Crystal Palace last night, Tierney linked superbly with Bukayo Saka, before setting up Nicolas Pepe for the Gunners. If you haven’t seen it yet, it really is an outstanding goal.
PEPE! What a move from Arsenal! 😲

It’s still possible that Tierney will contribute for Celtic. According to the Sun, the Bhoys have a 15% sell-on clause agreed with the Gunners. Surely, KT is destined for bigger things than the Europa League, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if European giants were keen on the left-back.
