Karpaty Lviv sporting director Oleg Smaliychuk has disclosed that he has spoken to Marian Shved about the winger’s struggles since joining Celtic, the Daily Record reports.
The attacker has really featured for the Hoops since joining from Lviv, but Smaliychuk has revealed that the player has not yet given up on making it at the club.
“Never looks for excuses”
“He never looks for excuses. When I asked Marian about Celtic he just told me he was trying as hard as he possibly could, but there are so many good players at Celtic” Smaliychuk said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“He told me they are a big club and have an excellent selection of players.”
Shved’s honesty is certainly refreshing for a footballer. He could have complained about the situation he finds himself in, but it sounds like that is not the case.
Realism is refreshing
His realism is also refreshing, as the player seems to understand that Celtic have a big squad, and it won’t be easy for him to break into the first-team.
If Neil Lennon sees the quotes from Shved, he will likely be impressed with the way the player has handled his current situation.
Does that mean he will get more game time for Celtic when football returns to Scotland? That remains to be seen. However, the fact that the player is continuing to work hard and seemingly not be beaten down by his current situation is a promising sign.
Perhaps Shved will have a chance to make it at Celtic after all.
