St Mirren provide promising pitch update ahead of Celtic game

St Mirren appear to have ended any fears that tonight’s game against Celtic won’t go ahead as they provided an update on their pitch.

A blizzard of snow has swept across Scotland over the last couple of days. The Daily Record are reporting that Livingston vs Hamilton is likely to be postponed due to the conditions.

With snow being a foot deep in West Lothian, efforts that took place today look set to be in vain for that particular Premiership fixture.

But despite plenty of snowfall in Paisley too, tonight’s clash between St Mirren and Celtic looks set to go ahead. Or at least, it looks favourite to after the Buddies’ latest post:

St Mirren deserve credit for pitch work; huge night for Celtic

Massive credit to St Mirren for working hard to get this game underway. With temperatures around the country last night dropping to -17 in some parts [BBC], it was a cruel evening to say the least.

But it looks as though the Buddies are confident of getting this one on. That’s massive for Celtic, who really could do with getting these two games in-hand done and dusted.

Tonight can be considered another huge one for Neil Lennon. Whilst we all hope big changes are coming to the club in the summer regardless, Lennon will be looking to help rebuild his reputation. He’ll view a third consecutive win as a step in the right direction.

Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Hamilton hasn’t changed too much regarding the title race. But it would at least be pleasing to see Celtic do something they haven’t done all season – put a bit of pressure on them.

A win in Paisley doesn’t turn our season around tonight. It doesn’t even lift any of the storm clouds that have gathered. But it would be three points, and that’s a reward we haven’t earned enough of this season.

Hopefully, we get the job done. Once again, credit to Saints for ensuring this game is on.

In other news, a Tuesday transfer report has Celtic fans in agreement.
