If you happened to come across the recent quotes from Stale Solbakken, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Celtic were a few goals up in their Europa League tie.

Neil Lennon’s men are only level after last week’s 1-1 draw in Denmark, although you may not think it given the Copenhagen boss’ Wednesday comments.

In some strange quotes, Solbakken insisted the round of 32 tie “looks over” before saying that he feels “it’s not”.

The reality is that it’s very much alive and kicking, although someone may want to tell the Copenhagen boss.

“It’s not over until it’s over,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“It looks over, but it’s not over. We don’t see this as a bonus game, we see it as a possibility.

“There is nobody in our dressing room who doesn’t believe it can’t happen.

“It has been a difficult season in many aspects and we’ve never really having a stable team, but we’ve still made it a fight.

“We have brought a culture into the club in terms of we demand things. We don’t go for nice performances without results. People used to think: Nice try, but you lost.”

Solbakken is playing some mind games with Celtic

Nobody is questioning Solbakken’s mindset, or the fact he thinks his side still have a chance.

Of course Copenhagen do. The tie is level at 1-1 and any victory, or even a high scoring draw, will see them through tomorrow.

It’s just a little surprising to hear him saying the tie “looks over”.

Perhaps that’s just some mind games on his part, but they’re unlikely to work against a Celtic side who have already been stung after drawing 1-1 in an away leg this season.

Cluj will be on a lot of people’s minds tomorrow night. And with good reason.

But we’re a far superior team to the one that played that Champions League qualifier in August.

We just need to show it to ourselves, and Solbakken.
