Celtic have made their first Twitter move today since the defeat to Ross County, but it’s not what we were all hoping for.
The Hoops fans have been left feeling a strong sense of apathy towards the football club this season. And after Sunday night’s 1-0 defeat to Ross County, there’s eben yet more calls for Neil Lennon to be sacked.
However, Celtic have been keeping in line with what they’ve done all season with regards to supporters – nothing. Indeed, there was a media silence from the club yesterday. Nothing was put out on the club’s Twitter account.

Of course, as we can’t stress enough, this is nothing to do with the media team. Nothing to do with the communications department at Celtic that has such a difficult job to do at the moment.
Celtic won’t be able to win on Twitter until Neil Lennon is removed
It’s likely coming from higher up. That’s where the social media agenda will be being set. And giving them the go-ahead to start discussing the Aberdeen game on Saturday is exactly the kind of oblivious nonsense we can’t be bothered with anymore.
Indeed, Celtic came back onto Twitter today with some words from the captain Scott Brown. He spoke about how important it is to get back to winning ways, how hard the players are working. Blah blah blah. You get the picture. Previewing Aberdeen this weekend without actually covering any of our weak points.

After the full-time whistle went in Dingwall, we know what we wanted. We wanted the first piece of communication from the club to be the resignation or sacking of Neil Lennon. But it comes as no surprise either that we didn’t actually get it. Lennon appears determined to hold onto his job for as long as he can.
And as Celtic tried to move on to the next one this Saturday, fans weren’t having it. It was clear from almost the first reply that the mood of the fan-base was too close to rock-bottom:
“Just embarrassing”
Exactly.
Ram it Celtic social media until you have something meaningful to tell us.

Just delete your account. You aren't using it to speak to supporters, there's plenty of celtic quote and on this day accounts out there and yours is by far the worst. https://t.co/D2sWP1abvy

“What I’ve done here Neil is cancelled the scheduled “Happy Birthday” tweets, and I’m giving the fans 36 hours with no tweets instead, before hitting them with a motivational Scott Brown quote. It’s a flawless plan to get the fans back onside.” https://t.co/kgDre1m2TB pic.twitter.com/EjUX1blY3c

A club who were formed to help people have kicked their own fans in the guts week after week during a pandemic. Not with results on the park, with with disdain off the park

Can’t stress how uninterested I am in hearing/reading the same meaningless quotes we’ve been fed by Lennon, Brown, and Callum McGregor all season (plus occasional appearances to say the same from Kris Ajer, Shane Duffy, Greg Taylor, Ryan Christie etc). Get him out or be quiet. pic.twitter.com/PyNYqlMxAu

You are trolling your own support.
We don’t want to hear the same recycled clichés we’ve been hearing all season. The only thing we want to hear is a statement telling us that finally, after the umpteenth embarrassment this season you are relieving the manager of his duties. pic.twitter.com/1FiG49lVtm
