Stephen Glass left fuming with John Beaton as Celtic watch on at more bad refereeing

Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass is not happy with the decisions of John Beaton during last night’s Rangers draw against the Dons, as Celtic supporters are again left lamenting Scottish refereeing.

The Dons were 2-0 up at Ibrox thanks to goals from Christian Ramirez and Scott Brown, only to see their lead evaporate as a direct result of two dodgy Beaton decisions.

Glass feels that the free-kick leading up to their goal has to be called into question, as well as the 80th-minute penalty that bailed the home side out from a defeat.

As quoted by The Daily Record, he said: “We’ve been undone by a free kick that doesn’t look like a free kick and a penalty that doesn’t look like a penalty kick to me. It’s a little bit of a coming together but it’s not a penalty kick.

“I’m happy but we could have walked away with more. We were brilliantly defensively and carried a threat.

“If you’d have given me a point at the start of the day I’d have been delighted but I’m disappointed at the way it’s ended.”

This obviously impacts Celtic as the Bhoys look to go toe-to-toe at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. We really should be one point behind today rather than two.

Result-changing decisions like this count come the end of the season and it’s not the first time John Beaton’s officiating has been called into question in relation to Rangers.

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear he won’t be commenting on referees this season, suggesting it’s a distraction. However, Celtic supporters are going to keep this topic burning for as long as there are terrible decisions littering the division, especially in relation to us.
