Celtic’s quest to appoint Eddie Howe has collapsed, The Scottish Daily Mail reports.
Journalist Stephen McGowan reports that the club had hoped to announce him as the new Hoops boss early next week.
However, demands made about his backroom staff have apparently scuppered the plans.
McGowan reports in The Scottish Daily Mail: “Talks to bring his former Bournemouth Technical Director Richard Hughes and first team coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone to Glasgow have struck a wall.”
He goes on to state that Howe is ready to pull the plug unless they join him in Scotland.
Celtic are now looking at alternative options.
It’s a deep blow to many Celtic supporters, including myself, who have been waiting for months on a manager update and Howe being appointed.
The situation is also the last thing we need over a long bank holiday weekend.
Hopefully Celtic have a solid plan B up their sleeves. Supporters simply won’t accept a poor standard of manager coming into the club.
With season tickets already on sale, time is of the essence.
We’ll have more on this story and all the reaction over the coming hours and days. Strap in.
In other news, Celtic FC Women will be live on the BBC this Sunday.
