Pundit Steven Thompson has suggested Celtic’s victory on Sunday against Aberdeen wasn’t exactly hard earned, with the home side capitulating against Neil Lennon’s side, speaking on BBC Sportscene.
The Hoops destroyed the Dons with a phenomenal first half display, rushing to a 4-0 lead by the interval.
It’s a lead we would maintain in the second half, with the home side barely having a sniff at Fraser Forster’s goal.
Thompson has slated the attitude and application of Derek McInnes’ team, suggesting that they ‘lay down’ to the Scottish champions.
Speaking on highlights show BBC Sportscene, the former Rangers man said: “They were awful in that first-half… they were pathetic.
“You can understand why the supporters are really frustrated and angry with that performance because they just lay down to Celtic.
“It was toothless from them.”

Did Aberdeen throw in the towel?
The credit really must lie with the Hoops for forcing Aberdeen to have a particularly poor day. It’s not as if the Pittodrie outfit turned up looking to lose the fixture.
Not many teams are capable of dealing with Lennon’s team right now. Sixth-placed Serie A side Lazio lost to us on Thursday night and all but two of that team started against the Dons.
It’s perhaps unfair to expect them to raise their game to that level.
It might be convenient for some pundits to think our opposition simply roll over for us, but that win on Sunday was as hard earned as any other domestic match this season and we deserve recognition for that.
