Former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has been revisiting his former relationship with the Bhoys by taking a trip to a Canadian supporters club.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man currently plays for CF Montreal in Major League Soccer and recently paid a visit to The Joe Kennaway Supporter’s Club, which is named after the legendary Canadian goalkeeper who made hundreds of appearances for the Bhoys in the 1930s.

And apparently, Victor is still a big fan of the Hoops, if the club’s social media post today is anything to go by!

Wanyama only played 91 times for Celtic but became a real favourite with the support due to his combative and physical style in the heart of the Bhoys’ midfield.

He could play a bit, too, and was a massive part of title successes in 2011/12 and 2012/13. The Kenyan is especially well remembered for his second season, which earned him a £12.5m move to the English Premier League. [BBC]

That’s the year he not only dominated the Scottish scene, but helped Celtic take on Europe’s elite. He famously scored in a 2-1 win over Barcelona, forever enshrining himself as a well-remembered figure in the Celtic story.

That he’s popped up is a good omen in the week of a huge Champions League draw, which will determine the Bhoys’ path to try and reach the heights experienced by Wanyama and company.

Now 31, Wanyama is a regular for Montreal and has made 24 appearances for the club this season, helping them to a second-placed Eastern Conference spot.
