Former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has admitted he was bemused by Scott Brown’s sending-off against Kilmarnock.
The Hoops skipper received a second yellow card for celebrating with the Hoops fans following his last minute winner.
And Strachan can’t understand why that should be considered worthy of a red card offence.
Not Brown’s Fault – Strachan
“Was it his fault that the crowd then jumped out of the stand and came to him?” he told the Daily Record.
“Most of the bookings I’ve seen for celebrations like that have been for players who jump into the crowd or throw their shirts into the crowd and cause havoc.
“Didn’t throw his shirt in”
“But he stopped three yards away and didn’t throw his shirt in so I don’t see a problem with what he did.”
The former Hoops boss is correct in his assertion but as Brown celebrated with the fans it wasn’t that much of a shock that he was sent-off.
Brown’s winning goal took Celtic 8 points clear at the top of the league. Ironically he struggled to make an impact on the game, but his goal was worth the wait for the fans.
The Hoops had struggled to break down a stubborn Killie side.
The reaction from the players and the support was one of relief more than anything, that the Bhoys managed to take advantage of Rangers’ most recent slip-up.
