STV journalist Raman Bhardwaj expects Celtic to wrap up the signing of Christopher Jullien on Friday. The Daily Record report that the 6ft 5in central-defender arrived in Scotland late on Thursday night as he closes in on a £7million move.

Jullien is not the first man to be close to sealing a move to the Scottish champions this summer. David Turnbull was pictured wearing a Celtic shirt inside Parkhead last week before an issue found in his medical called off the move.
That means that Celtic fans will be on edge until the big French defender is pictured in the Hoops. However renowned reporter Bhardwaj’s assertion may calm some nerves.

Jullien and Ajer could prosper
Jullien will almost certainly become the club’s second most expensive signing when he completes his move from Toulouse. It will also be the second time in two years that Celtic have paid a vast amount for a French Ligue 1 player.
Last season, Brendan Rodgers broke the bank to bring in Odsonne Edouard from PSG after the striker had impressed during a year-long loan spell. Ironically, Edouard and Jullien were teammates at Toulouse back in season 2016/2017. Strangely enough, the centre-defender netted more goals than the forward, hitting the scoresheet five times in comparison to Edouard’s solitary strike.

He won’t have the same expectations next season though. Jullien will be expected to defend first and foremost, and develop a good relationship with a fellow defender – probably Kristoffer Ajer. His aerial presence could help in the opposite box but most Hoops fans will just be hoping he can help keep the balls out of his own net.
