Celtic supporters are only getting more reasons to love Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japanese star was pivotal to all the good things Celtic did last night against Bayer Leverkusen. His relentless harrying of Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky culminated in well-won penalty, which was duly chipped by Josip Juranovic.

Not only that, his assist for Jota was absolutely perfect. The speed and placement on the pass was ideal for the Portuguese winger to smash it first-time past Finland’s number 1.

Just like Joe Hart, this was a result that was very cruel on Kyogo Furuhashi. However, his enthusiasm wasn’t going to be dampened by the nature of the result last night.

He tweeted:

Now, last night wasn’t the blockbuster, multi-goal display from Kyogo that we’ve seen before. But it was vital in other respects.

He won 3 duels [Fotmob], constantly putting defenders and the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper under pressure.

That allowed Celtic to win the ball back in dangerous areas, just as he did against St Johnstone.

Although Kossounou and Tah did a decent job of limiting his chances, Kyogo was still a threat in other areas. And now, after the sting of a dramatic loss, he seems more determined than ever to achieve success with his new club.
