Chris Sutton reckons that his former teammate Neil Lennon still doesn’t know if he’s getting the permanent manager’s job.
Lennon has been in charge on an interim basis since February and has lost just one game in that time. He’s helped Celtic over the line in the Premiership and is just 90 minutes away from tasting Scottish Cup glory.

Yet speculation about his future is still rife with some fans reckoning that he’s not the right man for the job. Celtic haven’t made any announcement over his future yet and Sutton reckons that may be because they still don’t know what they’re going to do.
He wrote in his Daily Record column: “I sat with him on Thursday to do an interview ahead of this Final and he never cracked a light. I genuinely believe he doesn’t know himself and I find that strange in itself.
“In fact, it actually leads me to think the Celtic hierarchy do not really trust him.”

Focus on the football
Celtic have done the right thing by keeping Lennon in the dark in the lead up to the final. The Northern Irishman spoke in midweek about the need for Celtic to focus on the match and not the occasion. Giving him news on his future could perhaps add unwanted emotion to the afternoon.

It is important that Celtic focus on winning the match and nothing else. Afterwards, Lennon can find out his fate and the club can move on accordingly.
History beckons for Celtic with more trophy success. That’s what really matters right now.
