Celtic captain Scott Brown has had some fun on BBC Scotland this afternoon, joking with pundit Neil McCann that he should take his Rangers strip off (Sportsound, BBC Radio Scotland, 12:32).

The legendary midfielder was giving a live interview when he was questioned by presenter David Currie about the glory of nine-in-a-row potentially being taken away if the season is ended early.

Brown though was adamant Celtic fully deserve a title if play can’t resume, telling the broadcaster: “No, we’re 13 points clear, we’ve got a great goal difference, we’ve got eight games to play, can any of you see us being caught?”

The panel, which included Chick Young and journalist Tom English obviously said no, before Currie with tongue-in-cheek posed: “Maybe we should ask ex-Rangers player Neil McCann?”

Brown would then weigh in and give the former Ibrox man a bit of stick, laughing: “Come on Neil, give us that shout, take that Rangers strip off.”

To be fair to McCann he would give a bit back and go on to make clear he saw no chance of catching Celtic given the way the season was panning out, before enquiring about the player’s health and fitness.

It was all in good fun.

Brown has been active online and in the media in recent weeks, providing supporters with a bit of entertainment while we wait for football potentially returning.

The captain made it clear again to BBC Scotland that his preference is that the action resumes but that he, personally, can’t see it happening.

When he does return to the pitch he’ll either be pushing for that ninth title in a row or perhaps even going for an unprecedented number ten.
