The agent factor that led to Ange Postecoglou’s imminent Celtic exit to Spurs

With Ange Postecoglou’s exit from Celtic all but confirmed by the club and Tottenham, a report has claimed that the Celtic manager’s agent Frank Trimboli has been working behind the scenes to push for a move to the London club.

The report from Vince Rugari in the Sydney Morning Herald says, “Levy is why this position is viewed as a poisoned chalice, although none of this will be lost on Postecoglou, a student of the game and a voracious consumer of football around the world. His agent, London-based Aussie Frank Trimboli, knows Levy well and has been pushing Postecoglou’s case for months behind the scenes.”

The Celtic fans will be disappointed at this latest update. They believed up until last week that Ange Postecoglou would have been here next season to oversee a second attempt at Champions League football after the league title was sewn up in May.

The Celtic manager was continually asked to comment about the speculation in the pre-match Scottish Cup Final press conference where he refused to be drawn on the rumours.

At the time, Ange said [The Scotsman], “They know better than to ask me anything this week mate, let me tell you. They know me very well. They wouldn’t dare ask me about anything.

“I know you find that surprising. I haven’t spoken to them about a million other things going on here as well. It’s not just about me.

“This football club is planning for next year, planning to bring players in. There is a full range of conversations going on, but my focus is on making sure we win a game of football which is very very important to us.”

Frank Trimboli’s presence at the Trophy Day celebrations [Daily Record] coupled with Dermot Desmond’s appearance last week all seem to suggest that the presence of the two men at Celtic Park is more than just a coincidence. Especially after the developments over the last few days.

We all knew Ange Postecoglou has designs on managing at the very top level of football and it seems now, that he has gotten his wish with a move to the English Premier League.

With Fabrizio Romano’s latest update suggesting that a deal is all but done, it is just a matter of time before the announcement is made and we will be saying goodbye to our latest treble-winning manager.
