The Ange Postecoglou effect becomes clear during Celtic B clash

Ange Postecoglou may only be the Celtic first-team manager, but his methods are being felt at lower levels of the club.

There is certainly a feel good factor around Celtic at present, and part of that has been down to the new B side.

Tommy McIntyre’s men extended their winning run to four straight games last night, as they defeated League 2 Annan Athletic in the SPFL Trust Trophy.

Lee O’Connor grabbed one of the goals, but it was the full-back’s positioning that created arguably the biggest talking point of the night.

A beautiful sight spotted at Celtic B clash

When it comes to tracking Celtic’s stars of the future, few are more reliable than Lewis Laird.

The Celtic fan and Cynic contributor was at the Penny Cars Stadium last night – and noticed a familiar trend from recent first-team games.

He tweeted: “Interestingly, both the full-backs have found themselves in inverted positions at times so far.”

This was backed up by 67 Hail Hail YouTube contributor Ryan McGinlay, also at the game, who tweeted: “Celtic B utterly dominating so far. Inverted full-backs.”

The idea that the B side would follow similar tactics to the first-team is probably pretty obvious, but this type of joined up thinking has been absent from Celtic for far too long.

It was no surprise then that some other Hoops fans were delighted to hear the update from Airdrie.

Encouraging signs then. Maybe it won’t be too long before we see our first B team player making the step up to the first-team.

Over to you, Fran Alonso.
