The Ange Postecoglou reign gets underway as Celtic players return to Lennoxtown
It may only be June 18th, but Celtic’s players are back in training ahead of the new season.
The non-international members of Ange Postecoglou’s squad returned to Lennoxtown on Friday, with their new boss not even in the country.
The Scottish Sun posted the update on Friday morning, with several images of returning Celtic stars included.
The likes of John Kennedy, Albian Ajeti, Mikey Johnston, Christopher Jullien and Tom Rogic were all pictured driving into the training ground.
Ismaila Soro, Vasilis Barkas and new signing Liam Shaw were also spotted in their cars.
Things will heat up for Celtic in the next month
Celtic play their first pre-season match in Newport against Sheffield Wednesday on… you guessed it… Wednesday 7th July.
The Hoops will then take on Charlton Athletic at the same location, and Bristol City away, before hosting Scott Sinclair’s Preston North End on July 17th.
FC Midtjylland will then visit Glasgow on Tuesday 20th July as things really get underway for Postecoglou at Celtic.
Celtic’s Scotland contingent should return by then, barring a miraculous run from Steve Clarke’s men in the Euros, and they will strengthen the squad.
But with the futures of Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard up in the air, and Scott Brown and Mohamed Elyounoussi already away, we are very thin on the ground.
But Celtic are back, in some capacity. And, in a funny way, the journey starts here.
