The disrespectful Celtic clip from McCoist and Brazil in June that looks ridiculous tonight

If ever a video summed up the distance of the journey that Ange Postecoglou has already gone through since arriving as Celtic boss, it’s the one I’m about to present to you.

Unfairly, back in June, Postecoglou was a laughing stock in the media. From sneering pundits to bemusing reporting, the Australian absolutely did not get a fair shake when being announced as Celtic boss.

The below clip from Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil on talkSPORT has the pair laughing at Postecoglou, failing to pronounce his name and writing him off because of the mythical UEFA license issue that 67 Hail Hail always told you was red herring. Give it a watch.

To think that tonight Postecoglou is toasting to his success as a trophy winner at Celtic just months into the job, in the face of this nonsense, is so satisfying.

Postecoglou will be quick to credit his players and coaching staff for winning the Premier Sports Cup. He’ll also stress that this is just the beginning, there are bigger goals in mind this season.

However, you’re not human if you don’t get a sense of real pleasure out of witnessing clips like these coming back to haunt people.

They didn’t treat Steven Gerrard or Giovanni van Bronckhorst this way. Brendan Rodgers arrived in Glasgow as a superstar to the press. So for Postecoglou to fight against that and deliver instant success is impressive.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a long way to go for the manager at Celtic. No-one is saying Ange is a Celtic legend. But this is as good a start as likely he could have had in the circumstances.

Now with a bit of stability, I can’t wait to see where we go next.
