Liam Scales’ time at Celtic has certainly been a mixed bag of fortune for the Irishman.
Earlier on 67 Hail Hail we discussed how Scales could be on the brink of a huge opportunity at Celtic Park due to the club’s current injury crisis.
The 25-year-old was linked heavily with a move to Aberdeen this summer but that seems to be over now as Celtic look to hold onto him and the Pittodrie club are now reportedly focusing on another target.
The Press and Journal reports that The Dons are now looking at sealing a £400,000 deal to bring in Gornik Zabrze’s international defender Richard Jensen to the club.
The Finnish left-sided centre-back is due for a medical at the club and if that move goes through, any slim chance of Scales making the move up north will end.
The report also states that Celtic were looking for ‘in excess’ of £1m for Scales so that may be why any updates on the Irishman moving to Aberdeen went quiet over the summer.
But at least for Scales, it seems he will be on the brink of first-team football after all. With Celtic needing cover in the defence, it seems like he could be thrust into the starting line up on to face St Johnstone on Saturday.

Scales certainly has a bit about him. He competed relatively well in his first season at Celtic and it looked like his versatility meant he would slot into either the heart of the defence or the left hand side.
Unfortunately for him, Greg Taylor found a new lease of life under Ange Postecoglou and Carl Starfelt was brought in to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers which led to lengthy spells on the fringes of the first team.
But now, he has his chance. It’s up to him to show Brendan Rodgers he still has a part to play at Celtic and that will likely begin on Saturday at 3pm.
