Gary McAllister reckons this coming week is “a great week” to be a Rangers player, in news that should surely give the Celtic players a bit of extra motivation.
Neil Lennon’s men will go into Sunday’s third league derby of the season 13 points clear of the Ibrox side.
The Hoops have an entire week to prepare for the match due to our unfortunate Europa League exit.
Rangers, meanwhile, face Bayer Leverkusen in Glasgow on Thursday night. And McAllister admits it’s a “massive” week.
“These games are massive games for us,” he told the Scottish Sun after their narrow win over Ross County on Sunday.
“We have a couple of huge ones at Ibrox, then we travel away.
“It’s a great week to be a Rangers player, I feel.
“We have proven we can stand toe-to-toe with some good teams and we should take confidence from that going into these ones.
“The games are going to be fantastic, Ibrox will be jumping, the atmosphere will be great.”

McAllister may feel it is “a great week to be a Rangers player” but it could soon turn into one of the most horrible weeks ever if things don’t go to plan for the Ibrox side.
Patience is already wearing thin with the Gers faithful, with the win at County unlikely to have done much to stem the tide.
Were they to lose both home games, on Thursday on Sunday, then you imagine things may be about to get a whole lot worse for McAllister, Gerrard and the weary players.
Quite simply, we can make their “great week” a horror one. And wouldn’t it be amazing if we did?
Ibrox isn’t likely to be “jumping” if we’ve put a few goals past them on Sunday, and effectively killed the title race stone dead on one afternoon.
We have all the ability, and the rest time, to be able to do it. We just have to turn up like we’ve failed to do on the last two occasions.
