The installation of a Green Brigade banner prior to tomorrow’s UEFA Europa League match against Sparta Prague has gone down very well with the online Celtic support.
The fan group showed off the Tommy Burns inspired display on Twitter earlier today.
The quote is one of the most famous in the entire history of the club and is a brilliant reminder to the players that, although there are no fans inside Celtic Park, everyone is still relying on them to give their best.
The absence of fan banners and flags has been notable this season.
Celtic have decked out the lower tier with sponsors and club badges but there’s been none of the flavour and colour from supporters that we’ve seen at other clubs’ stadiums during the ongoing pandemic.
Thankfully, The Green Brigade appear to have been in discussions with the club to change that and the results are clear for people to see.
The fan group have also launched an online food drive recently, hoping to harness the power of the Celtic support to help local food banks.
They say: “For the last 8 years, the Green Brigade have been collecting for food banks across Scotland before Celtic home matches in the run-up to Christmas. Clearly, this year is different for everyone, and as a result of the continued stadium closures, we will be unable to receive food parcels as we normally would.”
A £5,000 goal has been set, with generous fans already donating more than £4,000. You can find more information at the following link.
