Celtic fans’ patience with Dermot Desmond and the Parkhead board has run its course.

A shambolic transfer window which saw Celtic mocked by European clubs for their negotiating skills is one of the reasons supporters want change.

But in the main, the running and direction of the club has left Celtic supporters fuming and as such, two sets of public protests against the Hoops board have taken place.

So when Celtic fans read an excerpt of Dermot Desmond’s open letter revealing his unhappiness about how a private golf club he is a member of is being run, the irony will certainly not be lost on them.

Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond ironically questions ‘integrity and standing’ of golf club

According to The Times, Desmond is taking £6m legal action against the management of Queenswood golf club in Surrey.

Concerns have been raised with ‘transactions’ of the club’s money worth £6m and an ‘open letter’ written to members of the club by Desmond has been shared by the media outlet.

The letter said, “If we do not stand united against this Putinesque regime, the integrity and standing of the club will be profoundly and permanently compromised.”

Whilst Celtic’s finances are certainly not in question, the statement by Desmond will certainly resonate with fans as to how they perceive the Parkhead club is currently being run.

What Celtic fans have done to highlight unhappiness to the board

There have been two public protests that have been planned, organised and executed since Celtic fans’ vote of no confidence in the board.

Celtic supporters have also organised and published a fan survey in which almost 40,000 fans voiced their dissatisfaction towards the Parkhead board.

There is now a new Celtic fan group called the Celtic Fans Collective where 23 members are now part of a steering group to continue the momentum of the demands for change at the club.

A bit like Desmond’s legal action against Queenswood, the Celtic fans are not letting this go.
