The Kano Foundation will celebrate a major milestone at Celtic Park on Saturday.

The volunteer-run charity have been bringing kids along to Celtic matches since 2010. It is their belief that a child’s background shouldn’t stop them from being able to attend football games.

On match days, the young Celts receive food, a goody bag and a ticket for the game. If you’ve been to Celtic Park any time over the past decade or so, there’s a fair chance you’ll have seen or heard the joyous kids in the Lisbon Lions Stand lower.

This weekend’s clash against St. Johnstone is a big one for the foundation as they welcome their 15,000th kid through the turnstiles. They’ve been tweeting about it over on their @KanoFoundation Twitter page this week.

It’s an incredible total that reflects well on anyone who has ever played a part in their work. Of all of the brilliant Celtic charity stories, the Kano Foundation is right at the top.

Last year, we spoke to a volunteer from the foundation on our YouTube channel. At that stage, they had just welcomed their 12,000th kid to Celtic Park — with all of those being provided by donations from Hoops supporters.

“It’s a free day out for the kids and an experience for them,” trustee JP said. “The feedback we get from the parents is just fantastic.

“The kids don’t need to be Celtic fans to go and enjoy it. It’s just a great experience and something that’s really special to be a part of.”

Let’s hope the kids get to see a good few Celtic goals against the Saints.
