The Kieran Tierney to Celtic story is one that is not going away anytime soon it seems. The former Celtic defender has found it difficult to break into the Arsenal first team and now seems keen on finding first-team football next season.
Newcastle are also said to be interested in the Scotland fullback but it seems that Tierney is keen for a return to Glasgow after a report in The Mirror (print edition page 53) claims that he would be keen to take a pay cut to help make the move happen.
Just what type of pay cut he would be willing to accept is not yet known but as I discussed this morning, it would have to be a significant one if his heart is set on a return to Celtic.

According to the report, Brendan Rodgers is keen to be reunited with Tierney. The Irishman enjoyed incredible success with the then-young fullback in the team as he helped deliver an Invincibles season and a Double Treble in his first tenure as the Celtic boss.
If the move does go ahead, the move would represent a break from the norm where our current transfer policy seems to be that any loan move is with a view to buying.

And I can’t see that happening as Celtic could not, and most likely would not, be willing to shell out the kind of money Arsenal would be looking to recoup for a player they spent £25m on four years ago.
Tierney would no doubt add that extra bit of quality to the Celtic first team. If Rodgers were to make his move then that could represent an issue for Greg Taylor who has been central, and key, to Celtic’s success over the last two seasons and has two years left on his current contract.
As I said before, this is one story that still seems to have legs and one that we will be keeping a close eye on over the coming weeks.
