Does Marian Shved have a Celtic future? Perhaps more importantly, should he?
These are the questions once again being discussed by Celtic supporters this week after the latest update from Belgium.
As we discussed last night, Shved has now scored three goals in his last three matches for Mechelen.
His latest came in a Belgian Cup match, following on from a double against Waasland-Beveren in late January.
It’s quite the turnaround for the 23-year-old. It wasn’t long ago his loan manager was rinsing his training contributions in front of the press, suggesting he didn’t have a future at the club.
However, after a heart to heart discussion with the club, Shved is again on the right track and beginning to show the kind of contribution that attracted Celtic to him in the first place.
He was in dynamite form for Karpaty Lviv in his homeland before the Bhoys came knocking.
However, he barely got a chance under Neil Lennon. He didn’t make a single start last season before being shipped out on loan. Perhaps that was justified – having not observed training, we can’t really make that determination.

With an uptick in form and, potentially, a new manager at Celtic, why not give him another opportunity to show what he can do at the Bhoys?
Celtic fans have been discussing that very issue this week, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
I’m personally think we’ll pull in both him and Hendry in the summer

Under lennon players seem to regress and I think shved was never given a chance to prove his worth, now I can’t tell what went on in training sessions but what I can tell is the boy looked have decent in games he played and looks good recently in Belgium 🍀🍀🍀

I’d say yes 👍🏽 the guy never got a chance at Celtic park and bhoy do we need a winger!

I would take both him and hendry back and give them another chance. Both coming back with a good majority of the season behind them, playing well for their loan clubs. Have to give them another chance.

Definitely. A new manager could be the difference. The boy looks like he’s a talent.

Why did we let him go in the first place? We already had a lack of wingers and this lad looks like a serious player. Absolute joke of a club this season. https://t.co/ZDB8VdmUYM

He deserves his first chance next season under a new manager. In order to deserve another chance, he’d had to have been given it in the first place under NL. https://t.co/yLg6eaTkMK

It’s one of Lennon’s biggest mistakes, sticking too close to the old guard for too long, & not giving other players a chance. It’s why we’re seeing Harper, Dembele & Okoflex all wanting away. I’d like to see Shved get a chance, but not sure if his loan will lead to him being sold
