Read MoreThe medal prospects for Juranovic, Giakoumakis and more after another Celtic title success
Josip Juranovic, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Moritz Jenz are all in line to receive championship winning medals after Celtic’s latest success.
The Hoops clinched their second Premiership title in succession with victory over Hearts on Sunday.
While Juranovic, Giakoumakis and Jenz all departed the club in January, they all made enough appearances to qualify for a medal.
SPFL rule C39 states that players who play in 25% or more of a team’s league matches are eligible for the prize.
This means that 10 appearances is the magic number. Juranovic just squeezed in with that amount, Jenz made 11 appearances while Giakoumakis managed 19. (transfermarkt.co.uk)
The league will dish out 25 medals to Celtic for players and staff but the club can purchase more.
Oliver Abildgaard will not be eligible for one, while Tomoki Iwata and Yuki Kobayashi are also below the threshold.
Iwata needs one more appearance to qualify while Kobayashi has made just three league appearances so far, so will come up short.
James McCarthy and Stephen Welsh are two others who won’t make it to the ten game mark.
The pair were brought on by Ange Postecoglou in the final game of last season in order for them to get a medal but they won’t manage this season.
Celtic will be presented with the Premiership trophy in our final league match of the season against Aberdeen on Saturday 27 May.
It’s sure to be another special afternoon. And evening.
