New Celtic arrival Christopher Jullien has revealed that it was a meeting with Hoops boss Neil Lennon that encouraged him to join the Hoops.

Jullien, who cost around £7 million, disclosed to the club’s official Twitter account that Lennon was so keen on signing the player that he went to Paris to talk to him.

“Neil Lennon came to meet me in Paris, and he told me what he wanted from me” the centre-back revealed. “I can’t wait to join him and the team and work for him.”

The fact that Lennon was willing to go to Paris to meet the player shows that he must have been desperate for the player to join the Hoops.

If the reports of Jullien’s fee are correct, he will become the second most expensive player in Celtic history. The most expensive being Odsonne Edouard.

Set to be a mainstay in side

That price shows that the player is set to be a mainstay in the Hoops defence. It is unlikely that the player will make his debut in the friendly against Wiener SC on Saturday.

However, he could well feature in the friendly against St Gallen on Tuesday. That would make sense, to give Jullien some playing time before the Champions League qualifiers begin.

At the price he was brought for, don’t be surprised to see Jullien start the tie against Sarajevo.
