The new Celtic song that got an airing at Rugby Park on Sunday; class Joe Hart moment

Celtic supporters have been inspired by legendary workers’ song Bella Ciao to cheer on Ange Postecoglou’s Bhoys.

Bella Ciao (which if you’ve not heard, you can catch on YouTube) is an anti-fascist Italian protest folk song that became an anthem of the Italian Resistance during World War 2. Fans aired a new chant to the traditional tune today after Moritz Jenz scored the team’s third goal of a 5-0 win.

The lyrics go: “We are Glasgow Celtic, the best in Scotland, the only team for me and you.” That then breaks into a singing of the tune and repeats again and again.

Joe Hart looks to be a fan if the above video is anything to go by, which Twitter user @stephebisset uploaded earlier today.

No doubt this will become a hit with supporters, especially with those who travel to away grounds. It’s likely to be regularly heard on our televisions over the next few months.

Celtic fans are always innovating the noise, colour and atmosphere at matches, and it’s great to hear more of that as we head deeper into the 2022/23 season.

The supporters are so closely aligned with this team and manager right now, and after the match there was further evidence of that with celebrations in front of the away end.

There’s been incredible backing home and away for this squad and, in my opinion, it’s definitely a factor in the team delivering the performances needed to secure big results.

Long may it continue!
