The new Celtic song that got an airing vs Ross County; tune and lyrics

New season, new Celtic songs. There was a vibrant atmosphere at Paradise on Saturday for the, what now seems to be annual, Flag Day festivities.

The club’s two largest fan groups – Bhoys and The Green Brigade – both unveiled multi-section tifos cheering on the team as they came out of the tunnel, which celebrated recent trophy successes.

And those with keen ears throughout the 90 minutes may have heard a new, to me anyway, tune coming from the North Curve section of the stadium.

The chant, with roots and origins that flow through Paris Saint-Germain back to 1970s pop hit Porque Te Vas, champions the culture and efforts of fans who follow the team in stadiums across the world.

New Celtic ‘home or away’ song

The lyrics are as follows:

Through the darkest nights and brightest days
Home or away
They say that it’s a way of life for so many
Celtic FC

Everybody thinks that we’re crazy
That’s what they say
Because our lives revolve around seeing you play
Celtic FC

It then breaks into a rousing singing of the melody. You can hear the original tune from the 1970s songs via this YouTube link and you can hear it in a football context, far closer to the Celtic version via this video of Paris Saint-Germain fans.

The Celtic fan groups are always trying out new songs and tunes, but not all of them take off. Lots of have come and gone. However, this one definitely has potential.

Away days are usually where these things pick up mass popularity throughout the wider Celtic support, which then travels back to Celtic Park, so we’ll see if that happens here.

Regardless, it’s set to be a fun season on and off the pitch for supporters as creative fans continue to back the team in superb fashion.
