Celtic’s achievement of winning three consecutive domestic trebles will take some time to sink in.
The Hoops had only ever won three trebles in their history prior to 2016 but have now doubled that tally in three scintillating years. The league victories were all relatively comfortable while the very nature of knockout competition meant that the cup competitions were closer run affairs.

However, despite that, Celtic have come through 27 consecutive knockout ties unscathed. Let’s take a look at some of the numbers behind those victories.

Invincible
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Celtic’s six cup victories is that they’ve not been taken to a replay or extra time once. Celtic have won all 27 cup matches in 90 minutes. They scored 83 goals in those matches and conceded just eight.
The matches weren’t against poor opposition either. We’ve had to see off Aberdeen (four times), Rangers (three times), Hearts and Hibernian (both twice) among others. Only seven of the 27 matches were against lower-league opposition.

Celtic have been favourites for each and every one of the matches too. The pressure has all be on the Hoops on every occasion with the opposition keen to raise their game and cause a shock.
The players have shown remarkable big-game consistency over the past three seasons so secure a landmark achievement. The likes of which will probably never be seen again.
