The six grounds that have hosted a Celtic title party this century as Tynecastle awaits

Celtic will clinch the Premiership title with victory over Hearts at Tynecastle this weekend.

The Hoops have been near faultless all campaign having taken a remarkable 92 points from a possible 99.

We need three more points, or one if it comes against Rangers, meaning that this Sunday is shaping up to be a title party.

One of the drawbacks of clinching a league title is that where it happens is down to the luck of the fixture list.

Sometimes, it comes without you even playing.

Celtic have won the league title on sixteen occasions so far this century. There have only been six years when we haven’t.

The 2019/20 season was deservedly awarded to us on a points per game ratio after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

In season 2014/15, we won the Premiership courtesy of our nearest challengers Aberdeen losing to Dundee United.

On the 14 other occasions, we’ve clinched it ourselves. And these are the six grounds where we’ve done it.

You’ll be unsurprised to hear that Celtic Park has been the venue for most triumphs. We’ve clinched six titles at home, most recently in 2017/18 on that memorable afternoon against Rangers.

The other opponents were St. Mirren (2000/01), Livingston (2001/02), Hearts (2005/06), Inverness (2012/13) and Aberdeen (2015/16).

Next highest on the list is Rugby Park which has seen three Celtic title parties: 2003/04, 2006/07 and 2011/12.

Tannadice has been the venue for two of our triumphs. Both memorable, in 2007/08 and of course 2021/22.

Partick Thistle’s Firhill was where we sealed the deal in 2013/14 while Pittodrie was the place in 2018/19.

And it was Tynecastle where Brendan Rodgers’ side clinched their first league title together in 2016/17.

Let’s hope that ground is getting a second entry this coming weekend.
