Ange Postecoglou doesn’t think Giorgos Giakoumakis will missing from Celtic action for a serious amount of time.

As we discussed earlier, Giakoumakis won’t play in this weekend’s semi-final against Rangers.

However, he could be back in action as early as next week away to Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking in a press conference today [Celtic YouTube], the manager said: “The prognosis on Giakoumakis wasn’t anything too serious which was pleasing.

“We’ll probably keep him out for this weekend but we’re pretty confident he’ll be available for next weekend.”

This is obviously fantastic news given Giakoumakis’ battling performances that have helped catapult the Bhoys to the top of the table and stay there.

The Greek striker has scored 13 goals this season, 12 of which have come since the turn of the year.

He’s been a key part of Celtic’s push for silverware at the perfect time. With Kyogo Furuhashi missing three months of football we badly needed someone to step up.

Even having him initially available as an option from the bench next week will boost Postecoglou’s tactical options as the team look to tick off each game on the way to a Premiership title.

Get well soon Giorgos!
