The unexpected lack of reaction from Celtic stars following Ange Postecoglou departure

It’s now over 24 hours since Ange Postecoglou’s departure from Celtic was confirmed.

The Australian has joined Tottenham Hotspur and we are now all looking to a future without him.

That’s not going to be particularly easy for us fans who had invested a lot in our former boss.

It also won’t be easy for Celtic‘s treble-winning stars who are likely to be a bit taken aback by his premature departure too.

Regardless, it is a bit of a surprise that we haven’t seen more reaction from Celtic’s playing squad online. Or any at all actually.

At the time of writing, we can’t seem to find a single Instagram post or story from a Celtic player thanking Postecoglou for his work at the club.

The players clearly loved Ange, that was evident in the way they played on the pitch. So it is a little curious that we haven’t seen anything online yet.

Nothing from Joe Hart, Jota or Greg Taylor — three of the biggest Ange fans around.

The players aren’t all off Instagram either. Carl Starfelt, Stephen Welsh, Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda have all posted since the news was confirmed. Just about non-Celtic things.

So far, Callum McGregor’s contribution in yesterday’s club statement is the only noise we have from inside the Celtic dressing room.

Perhaps the players have been told to say nothing just yet by those in charge of PR at the club.

Another possible explanation is that none of them were that close to Postecoglou.

We know that he liked to keep his distance from them. Maybe they just didn’t have that kind of relationship with him at all.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the silence continues. Or if we start to see some #ThankYouAnge posts over the coming days.
