Brendan Rodgers admits he has started drawing up recruitment plans for the January transfer window.

The Celtic manager is content with the squad he has at his disposal right now with his side leading the Scottish Premiership to an unbeaten start.

The Hoops have also won matches in the Champions League with the Northern Irishman seemingly finding an ideal rotation plan that thus far has worked to a tee.

Big money was spent in the summer window on the likes of Arne Engels and Adam Idah while short-term gaps were plugged by loan signing Alex Valle at left-back who has challenged Greg Taylor consistently.

The January window opens in a few short weeks, however, and Rodgers knows a club the size of Celtic cannot afford to rest on their laurels.

That is why the boss revealed his scouts – led by new football operations chief Paul Tisdale – are already looking closely at targets they could move for to further strengthen their squad.

Albeit the 51-year-old refused to be drawn on specifics.

“We’re definitely looking,” Rodgers acknowledged. “There are still areas that I would like to improve in the squad. Absolutely no question about that. We can’t do everything in the summer one.

“We’ve done a lot of great work there. But there’s definitely one or two areas just to, again, give that freshness to the squad as well and give that quality. So, it’s important that we keep building.

“All the players will learn, develop, they’ll get better. But you need to always provide competition and that’s something I’ll always look at.”

Luis Palma was this week linked with the MLS as a potential exit in next month’s window with key players ahead of him in Celtic’s pecking order.

But while Rodgers accepted that the Honduran may not have played as often as he’d have liked, he did explain how and why Palma remains in his plans for now.

“I haven’t seen anything on that but there’s nothing really to comment on it,” Rodgers said of speculation linking Palma away.

“Luis hasn’t played a great deal of late. He’s still a part of the squad.

“There’s nothing else more. He’s a good guy. It’s been difficult for him.

“Players have come into his position where he’s played and done really well. If you look at the goal return of Daizen this year, the pressing and all this side of it.

“He was out for a few weeks injured then Yang comes in and does really, really well. But he’s working hard every day. He’s a good guy. He’s well liked within the squad. But of course, I can only pick a certain amount of players. But he will continue to work and may get the opportunity as we go along.”
