Celtic’s transfer window was a disastrous state of affairs.
Scrambling around on deadline day to secure a quality striker having had months prior to do so has made Hoops supporters livid with the board.
Kieran Tierney can be heralded as a good signing, but the Scotland left-back’s current injury and lack of form is a cause for concern.
Benjamin Nygren appears to be one of the better recruits too, with Celtic managing to sign him for just £2m from FC Nordsjælland.
The midfielder has started fairly well with three goals and one assist in seven appearances so far, including a terrific brace against Livingston.

Benjamin Nygren favoured Celtic over Bundesliga transfer
Nygren is now on international duty with Sweden and has been reflecting on signing for Celtic with his homeland press.
The midfielder provided four reasons why he joined the Hoops, with Sportbladet claiming Nygren turned down two Bundesliga clubs in favour of Celtic.
He said: “I felt Celtic ticked most if not all the boxes. A really big club that has 60,000 spectators every game. There is a lot of focus on the club, which plays in Europe and is the best team in the league.
“I don’t know if there’s much more to say. There were a lot of clubs that were interested.”
Asked if choosing Celtic was an easy decision despite the opportunity to play in a top five European league, Nygren replied: “Of course I thought back and forth. There were other good options too. But Celtic had everything I was looking for.
“Ever since I was little, I have wanted to play in big stadiums with lots of fans. It is something that I enjoy and appreciate very much.
“I knew that Celtic was a huge club, but I think it is difficult to understand how big it is if you have not been there for the games. The city and all the fans live for the club in a completely different way.”
When does Nygren play for Sweden?
As mentioned, Nygren is in the Sweden camp for their next two games. Sweden are in Group B of UEFA’s 2026 World Cup qualifying and will face Slovenia away on Friday night.
Three days later on Monday, it’s another away trip to Kosovo at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium.
Sweden last qualified for the World Cup in 2018 as they failed to reach the finals in Qatar three years ago.
Nygren has four caps for his country so far and already has two goals to his name, scoring against Hungary and Northern Ireland earlier in the year.
