Three Celtic outcasts who could be handed a second chance

With Neil Lennon in charge at Celtic on an interim basis, he might well want to put his stamp on the team. That may mean making changes to the side that was established by Brendan Rodgers.

Some players who were outcasts could well be handed a second chance by Lennon. Here, we look at three players who could come back into the fold at Celtic Park.

This would certainly be a shock. Compper has only started one game since joining the Hoops last January. However, he is still in the squad and with the Hoops’ injury worries he could find a place on the bench if he impresses in training. Perhaps a place in the starting line-up might be too much to ask for.

2. MIKAEL LUSTIG

Lustig has been absence from the Hoops side since Jeremy Toljan arrived in January. That might change under Lennon. Lennon did sign the player for the Hoops back in 2012, and it was notable that he came on as a sub to replace Toljan in the recent 2-1 win over Hearts. Lustig could return to the starting line-up against Hibernian on Saturday.

3. CRAIG GORDON

Similar to Lustig, Gordon has not played since January, with Scott Bain taking over. However, with Bain partly to blame for the Hearts penalty award in his most recent appearance, it will be intriguing to see if Lennon opts to bring the experienced Gordon back into the side. Who is in goals against Hibernian could reveal a lot about Lennon’s plans.
