Champions League nights at Celtic Park are always special as the fans create one of the best atmospheres in world football.
With the Hoops on the cusp of Champions League qualification from the league phase of the tournament for the first time since 2013, there is a little bit more excitement attached to this game.
The Belgians, of course, have a chance to qualify too after Brugge beat Aston Villa two weeks ago to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
However, there are three Brugge players who are on fire this season that Brendan Rodgers must keep an eye on at Celtic Park as 67 Hail Hial profiles the Belgian side’s goal threat.
Club Brugge’s wing duo pose a Champions League threat to Celtic
Whilst Celtic have Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn in their ranks, Brugge also have two wingers that Rodgers needs to ensure are shackled by Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston.
Greece international Christos Tzolis will be looking to keep Johnston busy tonight as he is one of Brugge’s main goal threats.
With 20 appearances over all competitions, the 22-year-old has scored eight goals and created two assists in his maiden season after his €6m summer move from Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Tzolis has scored 75 career goals and created 25 in 189 appearances and will be looking to add to that tonight at Celtic Park.
Denmark international Andreas Skov Olsen will be one who is looking to keep Taylor busy at Celtic Park tonight.
In 19 appearances this season, Olsen has scored five goals and created three. However, over his full career, the €7m signing from Bologna has scored 100 goals and created 42 in 270 appearances and will be a threat on Celtic’s left-hand side.
Club Brugge’s captain is one Celtic skipper Callum McGregor will need to watch
Belgian international attacking midfielder, Hans Vanaken, is another threat Celtic will need to be wary of. The experienced Brugge captain pulls the strings in the heart of midfield and, like Callum McGregor, has been a goal threat this season.
The 32-year-old has found the back of the net six times and created seven in 21 appearances and according to Fotmob, has been Brugge’s best player this season. And, of course, Vanaken scored the winning goal as Brugge beat Aston Villa two weeks ago.
In 648 career appearances, Vanaken has found the back of the net 176 times and set up 128 goals for his teammates and has won six league titles and four Belgian Supercups with the Belgian side.
So whilst the Belgians will have plenty to worry about from a Celtic perspective, Brendan Rodgers will know the threat Brugge will post his team tonight.
