An important day in every football summer is the announcement of the fixtures for next season. The SPFL have announced Celtic’s fixtures for 2019-20, where the Hoops will be going for nine in a row.
Here are three takeaways from the fixture list.
FLAG DAY NOT ON TELEVISION AGAIN

Last season for the first time in a long-time Celtic’s first game of the season was not live on television. The 3-1 win over Livingston, the game the league flag was unfurled, was not on television. The same thing is happening next season, with the Hoops starting at home against St Johnstone on the Saturday, with Kilmarnock-Rangers selected for live television the following day.
FIRST GLASGOW DERBY IS EARLY

The fixture everyone looked for first on the fixture list is the Glasgow derby. This season it is early, as the Hoops will travel to Ibrox on the 31st of August, in what will be the fourth game of the season. Interestingly, the Hoops could be in the Champions League play-off in the midweek leading up to the game. If so, that is shaping up to be a season defining week for Celtic.
DECEMBER COULD BE HECTIC

December looks set to be very busy for the Hoops once more. They are set to play six league games in the month, including a Glasgow derby against Rangers on the 29th. When you factor in hopefully the Champions League and potentially the league cup final, Neil Lennon’s resources could be stretched to the limit in the run-up to the winter break.
