Judging by some recent comments from Kieran Tierney, it seems like the Celtic left-back would like to see Neil Lennon appointed as the next Celtic boss.
Tierney has hailed Lennon for what he has done to improve the side since taking over as interim manager from Brendan Rodgers.
“He’s a great manager to win under” Tierney told the Scotsman.
“Gives you a lot of confidence”
“He makes you feel so special, he gives you a lot of confidence and makes you play with a smile on your face. I think you can see that in the boys.”
That is high praise indeed for Lennon, and it seems significant that it is coming from one of the Hoops’ most important players.
Good sign for Lennon
It is a good sign for Lennon that he seems to have the players on-side with him. No doubt the Celtic board will have taken notice of Tierney’s comments.
The most important thing for Lennon of course, is the results. If Celtic hadn’t been winning then perhaps Tierney’s comments would have been different.
However, the Hoops have been unbeaten since Lennon took over, and are on the verge of a third successive domestic treble.
With those good results, it is no surprise to see that Lennon has the backing of the players. Should the good results continue over the next month, it seems only a matter of time until Lennon is named as permanent manager.
